Health and Harmony Wellness Education presents meditation classes every Thursday at 7 p.m. Contact Dr. Nancy Gahles for more information and reservations. "Circle of Wise Women" every Monday and Friday at 10 a.m.

Mirkin Vision Care now offers free eye exams in connection with the renewal of driver’s licenses for the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Free pregnancy testing at Multivitz Health Services, 529 Beach 20 Street, Monday through Saturday. OB/GYN services are available.

Free blood pressure screening every Thursday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at The Adult Day Health Care Center, located in the Peninsula Hospital Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation.

Peninsula Hospital Center offers a Parkinson Support Group every second Wednesday of the month, at 1 p.m., in the Meditation Room of the Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. The group is open to all persons with Parkinson’s disease, their families and friends. It is sponsored by the Fay Springer Memorial Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association. The Diabetes Support Group, of Peninsula Hospital Center, offers counseling and information the first Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. The meetings take place in the Meditation Room, on the ground floor of the Peninsula Hospital Center. For Extended Care and Rehabilitation. The group is open to anyone who has diabetes, family members and friends. The program is free and will feature guest speakers on relevant topics. For information contact the Family Health Center.

The Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group meets at Peninsula Hospital Center the last Wednesday of every month, at 6:30 p.m., in the Dining Room of the TBI unit. The program is free. Please call Rozann Pomerantz, in the Social Work Department, for more information.

Alzheimer’s caregivers support group at the Neponsit Adult Day Health Care Program at Young Israel of Far Rockaway, 716 Beach 9 Street, every second and fourth Thursday of the month, 1 to 3 p.m.

Peninsula Hospital Center offers free immunizations for children up to age 18 all year round through the Family Health Center. Free childhood immunizations are regularly scheduled at the center on Wednesdays.

Free pregnancy screening at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Monday through Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and Thursday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. OB/GYN services also available.

The Community Resource Center and Family Support Services Program offers residents the opportunity to come for help with stress, grief, trauma, fear and anger through information, referral, advocacy, mentoring and short-term counseling services. All services are free, and you can call the center day or night. The facility will also send representatives to meet with you personally. The center is located at 1600 Central Avenue, in Far Rockaway.

March 14, St, Thomas More Roman Catholic Church on 204-25 Rockaway Point Blvd. in Breezy Point will offer the residents the opportunity to spend a few moments doing something that could quite possibly save their lives. Precision Screening Plus will offer three primary health screenings. These tests include a Carotid Artery Screening test, an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm test, and an Ankle Brachial Index test. Anyone interested must register at least 24 hours in advance. Please call 1-800-959-6571 to schedule an appointment for the tests. The tests are offered for forty-five dollars each or three tests for $115.00

The Coalition for Far Rockaway presents a Clergy and Community Leader Training on Palliative Care & End of Life Issues from a Cross Cultural Perspective on Friday, March 8, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Beach Club on 129 Beach 116 Street.
