for larger version       Bronx D.A. Mulls Assembly Run Charles Pringle, currently serving as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx, is giving serious consideration to running for the Assembly seat that has been left vacant with the death of Assemblywoman Pauline Rhodd-Cummings. Pringle, who is a longtime resident of the 31st District, worked for the former Queens representative Floyd Flake and is said to be part of the congregation at Flake’s AME Church in Jamaica, Queens. While other candidates have expressed an interest in the post, Governor Pataki has yet to decide on whether or not a special election will be called to fill the position. Political analysts theorize that one reason for Pataki’s delay in rendering a decision is due to the fact that he wanted to await the results of the Liz Krueger-John Ravitz battle for the Senate seat in Manhattan. With Ravitz being a member of the Assembly already, it would have created an ideal position by which Ravitz could fill his old role and make a run for Cummings’ seat at the same time, but the loss to Krueger made this an improbability. Pataki, even in the wake of the Senate race in Manhattan, is still undecided on holding a special election.
