Meeting On Disaster Relief Set

Residents of Belle Harbor are invited to attend an informational meeting and update on the impact of the crash of Flight 587 on the community.

The meeting, sponsored by Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, will be held on Monday, November 19 at PS 114 (Beach 135 Street and Cronston Avenue) from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The meeting will address such questions as city, state and federal relief that can be provided to the families of victims of the crash, resources for those whose homes have been destroyed and an update on the crash and its investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

In attendance at the meeting will be Congressman Anthony Weiner, who has submitted legislation that would fine airlines $10 thousand per event should their planes fly over Rockaway; State Senator Malcolm Smith; Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer; representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board; representatives from the Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways; Representatives of the 100 Precinct in Rockaway Park; representatives of Keyspan Energy and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and representatives of Community School District 27.

All Rockaway residents are invited. Those in attendance will have a chance to ask questions.
