CB 14 Hosts Meeting On Memorial

The first planning meeting scheduled to develop plans for a World Trade Center Memorial at Beach 116 Street will be held on Monday, November 19, from 5:30 until 6:30 at the Peninsula Branch library, 92-25 Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

‘The many neighborhoods within the boundaries of Community Board 14 have suffered as a result of the horror that occurred on September 11 at the World Trade Center," says Jonathon Gaska, district manager of CB 14 in an open letter to the community. "As we mourn our losses and our government searches for the guilty parties, we as a community should continue to help those families that suffered. One way is to pay tribute to their loved ones by creating a fitting memorial in their honor. The community board has been asked to coordinate this important community project."

On the agenda for the meeting are such items as choosing a location and a design for the memorial and ways of funding its construction.

All residents are invited.
