Obituaries Susan Elliot Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister Susan (Robertson) Elliot, 58 years of age, passed away on June 23, 2001 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Ruth and William Robertson. Susan was a lifelong resident of Breezy Point, coming from Middle Village at the age of 7. She worked for 12 years as the secretary in the social work department at PHC until she retired 2 years ago to babysit her grandchildren. Susan was the loving wife of Arthur; the mother of Arthur and Anne Elliot and Stacy and John O’Leary; the grandmother of Lauren, Al, Casey and John. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Robertson; brother William Robertson and his wife Marcy; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A mass in celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, June 27 at St. Thomas More Church in Breezy Point. Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., Roackaway Beach was held at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village. Dorothy I. Hunt Life Time Resident Dorothy I. Hunt, a resident of Rockaway Point, died on June 22, 2001. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in the Rockaways her entire life. Dorothy worked as a secretary for IBM. She was affiliated with St. Thomas More Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Hunt, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Diane Cucchiaro; brothers Gary W. Hunt and Robert J. Hunt; 3 nieces and 4 nephews. Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., Rockaway Beach was held at St. Charles Cemetery. Brendan M. McCormick Rockaway Point Resident Brendan M. McCormick, born in Manhattan, came to the Rockaways from the Bronx 25 years ago. He passed away on June 25, 2001. Brendan was a resident of Rockaway Point and affiliated with St. Thomas More Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Nagle) McCormick; father William McCormick; mother Anna Coman McCormick; son Brendan McCormick and his wife Elaine; son Gerard McCormick; daughter Katherine McCormick; and brother William McCormick. Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor, Inc., Rockaway Beach was held at St. John’s Cemetery. Arthur E. Thomsen Korean War Veteran Arthur E. Thomsen was born on April 11, 1928 in the borough of Brooklyn. A Rockaway resident of 44 years, he passed away on June 22, 2001. A veteran of the Korean War, Arthur was a graduate of St. John’s University School of Business Administration, a retired employee of Mobile Oil Corporation and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. He was a member in good standing with the Knights of Columbus Flatbush Council and the American Legion. He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen (nee Healy); a daughter, Patricia Early; sons Brian and Paul; grandchildren Jonathan and Elizabeth Early; and sister Dorothy Lincoln of Palm Harbor, Florida. Mass of Christian burial was at St. Camillus Church on June 25, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor, Inc. |
