Relay For Life at BCHS

Beach Channel High School will play host to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, to support cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services in the community.

The event will run from 6 p.m., Saturday, June 9 through 10 a.m., Sunday June 10. The Survivor’s Lap will take place at 7 p.m., on June 9, and the Luminaria Service will be held at 10 p.m., June 10.

The Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue, and walk or run around a local track "relay" style to fight cancer.

The Survivor’s Lap kicks off the relay, with all of the attending cancer survivors proudly parading around the track and celebrating their health.

In the Luminaria Service, held after nightfall, participants light candles around the track to commemorate those who have lost the battle to cancer.
