PS 225 Students Light Up A Pathway To Joy

Public School 225, The Seaside School, recently hosted a morning "Writer’s Tea" to celebrate the publication of a fourth grade literary anthology called Lighting Up A Pathway To Joy.

This event was the culminating activity of a program sponsored by the Teachers and Writers Collaborative. Resident writer Lauren Spencer worked with fourth graders and their teachers on lessons that strengthened literary skills. Students drafted, edited, perfected and illustrated stories and poems based on personal experiences. The program was brought to the school under the direction of Principal George Giberti and was facilitated by Staff Developer Deborah Levine.

During the special activity students read their stories and poems to an audience of parents, teachers, administrators and their peers, and had the opportunity to win prizes for answering literary questions in a "Writer’s Trivia" game.

Copies of the beautifully printed anthology were available for all attendees.
