Meet The Irish by Harry McGuirk

County Cork born comedian, actor Joe Lynch, known to millions as Dinny, is suing the national television station here in Ireland.

Joe, who retired because of health, said he was hard done by, because he was left short of his final fees. Joe whose face is known to all television fans retired to Spain to benefit from the sunny weather. He is determined that justice will be done.

Joe had many successes on international television through the BBC in England in comedy. Thank you Joe for the million laughs you gave Harry and Margie over the years.

Joe is the happy guy of bygone days who gave us the closing for our famous radio show. "Slan Agus Beann et" Good night, God Bless You. We hope RTE will loosen its purse strings.

Well there is good news folks. According to Minister Brennan there are one million people working and that means full employment. The figures show that 65,000 people are on government benefit and not able to work. Better still Sun Tech of America is bringing 500 new jobs to Watford, Ireland. They will produce millions of sunglasses each year. Does that mean the Irish will become "sun lovers" by the millions?

"Slan" till next time.
