Chatting With Chapey HEARTSHARE FIRST STEP: 12TH ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER On Thursday, May 24, we attended the 12th annual fundraiser dinner at Carol Verdi, the Director of Early Childhood Services for Heartshare was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event. Carol introduced a video made for the dinner featuring the children who attend the program. Heartshare provides services for children with and without special needs. It sponsors a universal pre-K attended by community children who are four years of age or older where the children receive education and recreation. Featured in the video was Joanne Russo, the senior evaluation co-ordinator and Michelle Gross, the evaluation co-ordinator. They highlighted the many activities and programs that help children develop to their highest potential. Carol Verdi is a dedicated professional who cares for each child. Through her effervescent personality and charisma she reaches out to each We were particularly fortunate at the dinner to have been seated with Andrew and Pamela Bauman. Both Andrew and Pamela are committed to helping children with autism. Andrew is the President of New York Families for Autistic Children. The Bauman's are strong advocates for children. They are constantly focused on finding the best educational setting for each individual child. In addition to being strong proponents for children, they are very interesting to spend time with. A special thank you to the Lefferts/Liberty Kiwanis Club for its continuing strong support of Heartshare. The Kiwanis Club presented Carol Verdi with a check which will be used to help Heartshare obtain an elevator at their Matilda Raffa Cuomo Center. Carol expressed heartfelt appreciation to the men and women of the Kiwanis who raised money for this project.
