Sisters Of Color Theatre And Film Festival

Black Spectrum Theatre Company presents "Sisters of Color" Theatre and Film Festival starting with a world premiere play written by P.J. Gibson entitled "Prescription For Love." Opening night is Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 10 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m.

Next in the series is a play about literacy and children titled "It’s Never Too Late Baby." It deals with a man who has been married for 17 years and is confronted with a dilemma that has his family relationships, life and friendships in perils. His worst nightmare is about to become a reality. If he cannot come face-to-face with his fears, he could possibly lose all that he cherishes and loves. This drama details a situation normally associated with young people in school. (This is just one of the stories). The show runs March 16 at 8 p.m., March 17 at 8 p.m., and March 18 at 4 p.m.

"Orefu," a film by the legendary Brazilian director, Carlos Dieques, is a tale of passion, danger, love, and death set in Rio DeJaniero. The film runs Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 24 at 8 p.m.

Last in the "Sisters of Color" series is the poetry of Lindamichellebaron "The Sun is On" on Sunday, March 25 at 4 p.m. There will also be a book signing. Lindamidhellebaron is one of the progressive leaders in the African-American community.

As an added attraction there will be a five loaves food service of hot food on the premises. On display will be the African jewelry of Reflection and for sale will be the Unique African Art by the Damani Collection, which will be priced for buying.

Black Spectrum Theatre Company is located in the Roy Wilkins Park of southern Queens at 177 Street and Baisley Boulevard in St. Albans.
