Rockaway Park Assoc. News:

Beach Erosion & Postal Service On Meeting’s Agenda

Is Rockaway washing away? Concerns about beach erosion in Rockaway, placing toxic dredged material off the shores of the Rockaway Peninsula and future plans for Jamaica Bay restoration will be discussed at the Thursday, March 8 meeting of the Rockaway Park Association (RPA).

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be present to address these issues, make a slide show presentation, and answer questions.

Congressman Anthony Weiner and the regional postmaster will also be present to discuss mail service problems and changes to service in the Rockaways.

There will be reports from the Youth & Recreation Committee and
Education Committee, as well as a discussion of a letter sent by the RPA to Parks Department Commissioner Henry Stern regarding summer lifeguard coverage.

The RPA meets at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club, Beach 126 Street off Beach Channel Drive, at 7:30 p.m. All are invited. Refreshments will be served.
