Kelly And Francois—‘Leaders Of Tomorrow’

Saint Edmund Prep High School seniors Jill Kenny and Gerard Francois were recently featured on CBS (channel 2), during the "Leaders of Tomorrow" segment. The two students were chosen for their leadership qualities, academic excellence and community involvement.

Jill Kenny is the number one ranked senior in the class of 2001, possessing a 100 percent academic average. During her four years at St. Edmund Prep, she has held positions such as student council homeroom president, national honor society member, and editor-in-chief of the Literary Magazine. In addition to her school service, she is also a lector and Eucharistic minister. Kenny has won the New York Browning Society Award and The Tablet High School Press Award. Her plan is to enter a creative writing program and is currently considering numerous scholarship offers including New York University and Fordham University.

Gerard Francois, who maintains a superior academic performance, is also involved in school activities and performs community service. Gerard has demonstrated his leadership in student government by holding various positions throughout his high school years. He has also been a member of the National Honors Society and Student Council Executive Board. Francois, who also sings and models, participates in many extracurricular activities such as the Science Club, Literary Magazine, Drama Club, wrestling, etc. He is actively pursuing colleges where he can explore the field of medicine.

Both students were recommended by Thomas Maher, who is an academic dean and director of guidance at St. Edmund Prep. He has closely followed their academic accomplishments for four years and states that both seniors are "highly regarded by their teachers, appreciated by the staff, and well respected by their classmates."
