Women’s League Presents A Black History Program

Women’s Industrial Service League presented its annual Community Black History Program on Saturday, February 17, 2001.

After Florine Jenkins, president, welcomed everyone, musical selections were provided by Josie Dennis, president emeritus.

Tamika Anderson, Ashley Cole, Justin Gumbs, Kintu Johnson, Allyson Omesiete, Samene Reid and Lucille Smith reported on the contributions of Black scientists, inventors, entrepreneurs, politicians, musicians, and freedom fighters.

The keynote speaker, Tracy Spence, is a resident of Far Rockaway. He is also a journalist and an educator. Mr. Spence encouraged the youths to adequately prepare for the challenges and opportunities before them as future leaders.
