By John C. McLoughlin

Do you know this man?

Police are asking the community to assist them in identifying the body of a man found dead in the morning hours of December 14, 2000 on the northbound sidewalk of Cross Bay boulevard a mile south of the North Channel bridge in Broad Channel. A sketch of the man has been released this week.

The man has been described as white, approximately 40 to 50 years old, 5’3" tall, and approximately 100 pounds. He has a medium complexion, gray and black hair, and has various front teeth missing (top teeth had extensive bridge work). There is a two and a half inch scar on his upper right arm and a seven-inch scar on his stomach.

The day the body was found by police, the man was wearing a dark green jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

Anyone who may know the identity of the body should contact Detective Rice at 718-318-4224 at the 100 Precinct. Information can also be given to Detective Daniels at the Missing Persons Squad, Case #0009970, at 212-374-6920.
