Men’s Club of West End Temple, 147-02 Newport avenue, will hold its tenth annual "Spring Series of Short Stories." The schedule is as follows: Frank O’Connor’s "Guests of the Nation" and Amy Hempel’s "In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson is Buried" on June 6. Stephen Vincent Benet’s "The Blood of the Martyrs" and Peter Carrey’s "American Dreams" on June 13. Coffee and cake will be served between sessions each night.

Arverne Branch of the Queens Borough Public Library, 312 Beach 54 street, presents "Adventures by the Book" with John Fogarty for children ages five to 10 on Thursday, June 15 at 4 p.m. For children in kindergarten to grade 5 the library will host "African-American Songs and Stories" with Hasan Bakr on Monday, June 19 at 4 p.m.
