It’s Fun, Fun, Fun At Peyton’s FUN-Raiser Tournament
      On Saturday, volleyballs flew all day on the sands of Riis Park as contestants from far and wide took part in Peyton’s FUN-Raiser volleyball tournament for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). After a dreadfully cold, rainy week, a simply perfect Rockaway day drew over 40 teams to the beach for the big event.

      Apparently the big bluefish have switched venues for the moment. Over the weekend the big north shore bluefish tournament proved to be at times an exercise in futility. My team took a port prize with a twelve pound plus fish a far distance from the fifteen pounders that won first place, but that’s fishing.

Braves Team Receive Rockaway L.L. Awards
      The girls of The Braves were presented with awards on August 24. Coaches Bill Murphy and Jim Hurley presented awards to the 10 girls present and congratulated them on their regular season in which the team had 7 wins and 2 losses. The coaches consoled the girls on the championship loss, and advised them to use it as a learning experience.
